Summer Movie Product Placements
Product placement in films was in full swing this season with the top performers integrating no less than 25 brands into their projects. Which movie took the top spot? No big surprise it was the movie based on a toy brand, ‘The Transformers’.
Oddly enough, two of the most anticipated films of the summer contained no placements at all while doing a combined $280 million in ticket sales. ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ and ‘Shrek the Third’ were apparently too much of their time (although I’m not sure what time Shrek is set in) to accomodate today’s trendy brands. Not even a mention by Johnny Depp of Traveler’s Insurance. Even the Simpson Movie managed to squeeze in three brands, although one was Fox, which shouldn’t count.
Also of note is Ford Motor Company who leads the pack this year in film appearances with 16. I suppose if I had their sales figures I’d try to engage my customers as far away from reality as possible, too.
Wouldn’t it be great to get your product in front of millions of movie fans? flixtra.com is developing a technology to enable you to do just that and plans to release it in time for Oscar season. Stay tuned to find out how you can get in on this revolutionary opportunity.
